How to Share Your Creator Product Without Sounding Like an Ad
Tailor the conversation to the community, disclose your connection and contribute something useful before promoting a creator product.

Start with the audience
The original Reddit drafts approached creator and founder communities differently. Creators care about finding suitable brands and making outreach worthwhile. Founders care about choosing a problem, building a product and resisting unnecessary features. Those are different conversations, even when the same product appears in both.
Before posting, read the community rules and recent discussions. Identify a specific question you can help answer. If promotion is prohibited, leave the product pitch out rather than hiding it in an educational post.
Make the post useful without the link
A strong community post should stand on its own. Share a decision framework, a concrete example or a lesson that another person can apply. Do not make readers click through to understand the main point.
For a creator community, discuss the difference between finding a brand and having a reason to contact it. For a founder community, discuss how narrowing a product around one outcome changes what gets built. Adapt the substance, not just the headline.
Be clear about your connection
If you built the product you mention, say so. A candid founder perspective is more credible than pretending to be an independent recommendation. Do not manufacture a customer story, imply community endorsement or disguise a sales message as a neutral question.
A useful opening might be: We are building a creator tool, and this is the problem that changed our approach. Then explain the lesson before mentioning the product. Treat this as an example, not a script to paste into every community.
Invite a real conversation
End with a question people can answer from their own experience. Ask what makes a brand worth pitching, or which step in an outreach process causes the most friction. Avoid a question whose only purpose is to introduce your signup link.
Respond to criticism with specifics and curiosity. Community feedback is not a promise of sales, and upvotes are not evidence of product demand. Record recurring problems rather than treating every reaction as a feature request.
A practical pre-post check
Can someone benefit without visiting your site? Is your connection disclosed? Does the post fit the rules? Is the question genuine? Have you avoided repeating the same message across unrelated communities?
Use the answers to edit your post before publishing. Good distribution begins with relevance and trust, not a larger volume of identical posts.
For the creator side of that conversation, read our guide to choosing brands worth pitching. When you have a genuine reason to reach out, the Brand Pitch Generator can help organise it into a concise draft.
